Dr. Monica Ashok received her doctoral training at Stony Brook University School of Dental Medicine, where she focused on children’s dentistry and treating patients with special needs. She served as President of the Pediatrics Society and graduated with several awards and scholarships, including the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry Predoctoral Student Award for greatest promise in the field.

Prior to dental school, Dr. Monica spent years teaching and tutoring elementary school-age children in Washington D.C. and the Bay Area, where she discovered her passion and skill in working with this age group. She believes that each child is unique and her goal is to provide individualized, detail-oriented care to achieve the best long-term oral health.

She completed her specialty training in Pediatric Dentistry at New York-Presbyterian Hospital, Columbia University, where she was chosen to serve as Chief Resident.

During her training, Dr. Monica treated children of all ages including those with extensive medical and dental needs. Her research focused on emergency dental care and treatment in the operating room.

Dr. Monica has always enjoyed volunteering locally and internationally. She was the founder of her college chapter of Global Dental Brigades and the Stony Brook Children’s Healthy Smile Project to provide oral health education to families in homeless shelters. She has traveled to Honduras and Chile to provide dental care in underserved communities.

Outside of the office, Dr. Monica enjoys exploring her downtown Manhattan neighborhood, trying new recipes in the kitchen, and spending time with her golden retriever, Reya.

She is an active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Dental Association, New York State Dental Association, and New York County Dental Association.
