If you have been told that your child requires sedation for comprehensive dental treatment, please call and schedule a consultation with Dr. Tendler for more detailed information, and a review of how this treatment differs from treatment in the office.

While most children can be treated in a typical office setting, the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) recognizes that there are some children for whom, because of their need for extensive treatment, acute situational anxiety, or uncooperative age-appropriate behavior, would benefit from dental treatment under general anesthesia.

Our office has the luxury of our affiliation with New York Medical Anesthesia and Richard Marn, MD, one of the only Board-Certified Medical Pediatric Anesthesiologists in all of New York specializing in office-based dental sedations, especially for children.

As a NYU and Johns Hopkins dual board-certified Anesthesiologist and Pediatric Anesthesiologist, Dr. Marn specializes in bringing the safety of the operating room to the setting of our familiar private dental office setting.

While the actual dental treatment that your child receives will be the same as the treatment typically performed in our office, there are differences in the coordinating and scheduling of this type of treatment, as well as extra costs for the dental treatment and the sedation.
For patients with extensive treatment needs that aren’t covered by dental insurance, we offer low-cost patient financing through www.CareCredit.com in order to make your child’s dental treatment stay within your family’s budget. Please call the office for details.
